Abstract

Life tests of diode pumped, high peak power, passively Q-switched composite ceramic Nd:YAG/Cr:YAG micro-chip lasers were performed. Output energy of 3mJ with a pulse duration of <1ns and a repetition rate of 20Hz had been maintained over 8,000hs at room temperature without degradation. We had also confirmed over 7,000hs operation with a repetition rate of 80Hz at room temperature, and with 20Hz at 90 degree C.
