Abstract

This work deals on double-track type II waveguides fabricated by Ultrafast Laser Inscription (ULI) in z-cut LiNbO3.crystal doped with Er 0.5% Yb 0.5%. The light-guiding properties were explored and it was found that both wave polarised modes, TE and TM, are supported at communications wavelengths (1.55 μm). Besides, in this paper a thorough spectroscopic characterization was performed, in this sense all luminescence bands of active ions and their corresponding lifetimes were measured and additionally scanning confocal μ- luminescence maps were also developed. Although spectral slight changes were resolved, the bulk spectra of these ions are essentially preserved in the waveguide core and surroundings of lasermatter region.
