Abstract

Defect modes in the zero-n¯ and the plasmon-polariton non-Bragg gaps of a one-dimensional nonlinear metamaterial photonic superlattice were used here to produce second harmonic waves. Results are interesting for potential applications in filtering and frequency upconversion.
