Abstract

Magnetite films (Fe3O4) were generated on samples of commercial steel plates by pulsed fiber laser irradiation. These films were characterized by Raman spectroscopy. The main Raman band is related to the Fe-O bond. This work shows that it is possible to generate iron oxide films on the surface of steel plates by pulsed laser irradiation using different levels of laser power.
