Modeling Mode Instabilities In High Power Fiber Amplifiers

Abstract

We present a time dependent high fidelity model for modal instabilities in high-power fiber amplifiers based on a beam propagation combining local rate equations with a time-dependent temperature solver and a quantum defect heating source.
