Abstract
We demonstrate the use of different techniques of simulation to generate realistic representations of holographic projection of binary phase SLMs. Using an appropriate representation of the hologram at the simulation allows the visualization and inspection of the projected image. In contrast with typical simulations where pixels are represented as the minimal unit in a 2D matrix, we propose a more complex representation of the hologram. The pixel structure and the whole aperture of the SLM is abstracted as a physical area. We show that by introducing those physical attributes in the simulation, it is possible to create a more accurate reconstructions of the hologram.
