External Cavity-Quantum Cascade Laser for Sensitive Detection of Volatiles Emitted During Food Spoilage

Abstract

An EC-QCL emitting around 8 µm is used for real-time measurements of volatiles emitted during the spoilage of packaged food. With Integrated Cavity Output Spectroscopy, molecules presenting broad absorption features are detected at ppbv levels.
