Abstract
Laser Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy (LIBS) is a powerful analytical technique used in online determination of elemental composition in any phase of sample. The emission line and intensity in the plasma plume are utilized as ‘spectral signature’ indicating existence of the characteristic atom in the sample and forms a basis for comparing constituent’s composition in mixture sample. An important merit of this tool can be used in dangerous and harsh environmental conditions. Direct analysis of slurry product in shielded cell facilities will significantly increase throughput and reduce waste generation in radiological analytical facilities. Applying LIBS in slurry analysis is very challenging as compared to solid measurement, due to the short lifetime of plasma, sedimentation and turbulence on the slurry’s surface.[1-3] To overcome these problems, high laser energy was used, with special mechanism to revolve slurry, for better interaction of laser light with the slurry sample.
