Abstract

The laser induced deflection (LID) technique for absolute absorption measurements is introduced. From the general principle, several concepts are derived for measurements in optical materials, coatings and fibers. Experimental results will cover nonlinear optical crystals, optical coatings and fiber Bragg gratings.
