Writing 40 - nm marks using a beaked metallic plate near - field optical probe

Abstract

A near - field optical probe that uses a metallic plate with a beaked apex has been developed as a light source for near - field optical recording. Marks with diameters of 40 nm were written on phase change recording media using this probe.
