Abstract

The evolution of edge detectors is carried out using different techniques from the spatial filters to hybrid methods, these methods offers some advantages in function of the possible application, despite the issue remained under consideration. Therefore, in this work the development of a hybrid edge detector for the application of fill regions, based in the compass gradient convolution mask and the Canny operator, is presented. The results obtained were an edge detector with higher resolution, more sections detected and a larger filling area in the image. The method was compared with traditional edge detectors obtaining favorable results.
