A Novel Pediatric Vision Screener Employing Wave-Plate-Enhanced, Retinal-Birefringence-Scanning-Based Strabismus Detection and Double-Pass Focus Detection

Abstract

We describe a novel Pediatric Vision Screener (PVS) that employs wave-plate-enhanced retinal birefringence scanning for strabismus detection, essentially independent of an eye’s corneal birefringence, and double-pass focus detection using a bull’s eye photodetector, with an improved target system. The performance of the novel PVS is demonstrated in adult volunteers.
