Deviations in Long Exposure Laser Speckle Contrast Imaging: Accounting for Static Scatterers

Abstract

Comparisons of speckle images in the long exposure regime and direct tracking of red blood cell movement show strong correlation, but deviations are seen at high flow rates. It is shown static scatterers can account for deviations from the long exposure model in higher velocities, and a multi-exposure model may be implemented to quantify corrections. VCSELs are used to image speckle in vivo, as they can be readily pulsed for short exposure times, enabling multi-exposure imaging.
