Impulsive alignment of N2 with a train of 8 pulses

Abstract

We demonstrate a scheme that exploits the time periodicity of rigid rotors by breaking a single strong alignment pulse into an eight pulse train. Our results show 〈cos2 θ〉 > 0.6 in nitrogen gas at 1 ATM and 300 K.
