Cavity-QED assisted “attraction” between an exciton and a cavity mode in a planar photonic-crystal cavity

Abstract

We introduce a new regime of light-matter interaction, whereby a single exciton and photonic-crystal cavity mode are mutually “attracted” as they are tuned through resonance. This phenomenon is successfully explained by a quantized medium-dependent theory.
