Parametric Optical Magnetism and the Complex Mathieu Equation

Abstract

The motion of a bound electron driven by moderately intense light is shown experimentally to give rise to intense parametric magnetism and theoretically to undergo ultrafast growth of nonlinear magnetic susceptibility governed by a complex Mathieu equation.
