Minimizing Coherent Thermal Conductance Using Multi-Layer Photonic Crystal Heterostructures

Abstract

Multi-layer photonic crystal heterostructures, formed by interfacing homogeneous crystals of different lattice configurations, can attain coherent thermal conductance significantly below the vacuum value, due to mismatches in the photonic band structures between each individual crystal.
