Soliton emission from a trapping potential

Abstract

Spatial solitons trapped in a confining potential can undergo power dependent scattering. As the potential depends on the nonlinearity, solitons can accumulate transverse acceleration and eventually escape. We demonstrated this phenomenon in a reorientational medium.
