Realization of a quantum random walk with ultracold atoms

Abstract

We implement a quantum random walk on a line using a Bose-Einstein condensate. Periodically applied Bragg diffraction pulses split the condensate into stationary and moving components, yielding clearly non-classical spatial distributions.
