Pulse propagation studied en route in photonic crystals: a real space investigation

Abstract

We directly visualized pulses as they propagate through a photonic crystal waveguide with both temporal and spatial resolution. The amplitude of the local field reveals multi-mode behavior and the existence of long-lived non localized modes.
