Abstract

The equations for the physical variables participating in the photorefractive process as described by the band transport theory (Kukhtarev’s equations [1]) may in the drift dominated regime with a strong applied field be reduced to a single, nonlinear second order differential equation in the space-charge field [2]. In spite of the fact that this equation is strongly nonlinear, many features of the space charge field are revealed by a linearized theory.
