Abstract

Radiative nature of atoms or molecules placed in wavelength scaled dielectric structure has been attracting much interest. Enhancement and inhibition of spontaneous and stimulated emissions in the restricted space have extensively been studied. Recently these studies have been developed into the field of nonlinear optical phenomena. Here we examine the laser action in dyes embedded in the aqueous and methanol suspensions of polystyrene particles in terms of the dipole-dipole interaction and the scattering geometry.
