Abstract

Additive pulse mode locking (APM) employing feedback from a non-linear coupled cavity is an effective method to generate ultrashort pulses in solid state laser systems [1]. Generally, continuous mode locked operation requires that the lengths of the two cavities are matched within a fraction of a wavelength. The pulse repetition rate cannot be increased drastically without loosing pulse quality [1]. A number of laser based applications benefit from high repetition rates. among them are pulse-modulation telecommunication systems and LIDAR arrangements.
