Abstract
Many applications of lasers are now of such high sensitivity that the intensity noise properties of light become a particular concern. Real lasers are not just limited by the standard quantum noise; they have additional frequency dependent noise introduced by the dynamics of the laser, by technical imperfections; and by the noise control systems designed to eliminate technical noise. Typical applications, and even the laser itself, are complex, cascaded quantum systems, A method now exists to calculate their quantum properties [ 1 ].
