Abstract

Time-resolved infrared-ultraviolet double resonance (IR-UV DR) has enabled detailed measurements of spectroscopic and dynamical processes in acetylene (C2H2). [1] Our state-selective technique uses laser-induced fluorescence (LIF) detection to extract spectroscopic information and to measure collision-induced rotational and vibrational energy transfer in gas-phase C,H2. Vibrational states in the ground electronic manifold of C2H2 become increasingly congested and complicated by various intramolecular perturbations (enharmonic, Coriolis, and l-type resonances) as excitation energy increases.
