Experimental effects of interacting χ(2) nonlinearities

Abstract

The two basic processes of second order or χ(2), nonlinear optical systems are second harmonic generation (SHG) and optical parametric oscillation/ amplification (OPO/A). These have enjoyed considerable success in allowing access to quantum effects such as squeezed light and quantum non demolition measurements. Recently there has been increasing interest in the behaviour of interacting χ(2) nonlinearities, both classical [1] and quantum [2].
