Abstract
Recently, Marin et al. investigated experimentally squeezing in three different laser systems; a free-running laser, an injection-locked laser, and an external grating stabilised laser (F Marin et al. to appear, Phys Rev. Lett). Since the three systems have different amounts of side-mode suppression, the effect of the side modes on the total noise could be deduced. They find that squeezing of the total intensity noise can occur even when there is no squeezing in the individual intensity noises.
