Abstract
A laser diode (LD) pumped self-frequency- doubled NdxY1-xa13(BO3)4 (NYAB) laser operates at 1062nm and 531nm, simultaneously. It will be a very useful compact visible light source for several fields, such as an optical data processing etc. In a conventional end-pumping scheme, the local heating of the NYAB crystal, caused by the deposition of the pumping energy into the local region, can induce optical distortions including a thermal lensing and thermally induced phase-mismatching between fundamental wave and second harmonics. In order to achieve a high efficient and stable NYAB laser, it is very important to investigate the thermal effects of NYAB laser.
