Abstract

The non traditiona I phenomena such as amplification without inversion, electro magnetically induced transparency and high index of refraction without absorption an; known to occur in the Raman-driven four- level system (Fig. 1) by the work of Refs. 1-5. However, only a limited number of specific situations have been considered, and many discussions are based on computer simulation. In this paper, we present a complete and systematic analysis of the model, and give a general classification of the analytical conditions and the physical origins of nontraditional phenomena.
