Abstract

One of most important conclusions in cavity quantum electrodynamics (QED) is that spontaneous emission of an atom can be manipulated by squeezing zero-point fluctuations of the photon fields surrounding the atom in both spatial and frequency domains. Another interesting aspect closely related to cavity QED is the generation of nonclassical light. Both subjects are interesting not only from fundamental physics point of view but also from device-use point of view when the manipulation of spontaneous emissions and nonclassical light-generation are possible with semiconductor microstructures. The main purpose of this talk is to demonstrate our result on the manipulation of spontaneous emissions and to discuss an alternative scheme for the generation of sub-Poissonian spontaneous photons in semiconductor microcavities.
