Abstract
We report what we believe to be the first experimental study of the intensity-activated birefringence zero crossing shift in a nonlinear isoindex crystal. In an isoindex crystal, the birefringence changes its sign at some particular wavelength, say λi (zero crossing point). We found that a strong light beam shifts the spectral position of zero crossing, which dramatically influences the wave dynamics in the isoindex crystal.
