Abstract

The relaxation of high singlet states in organic dye molecules has been the subject of many investigations. The Sn states are known to be rapidly depopulated by internal conversion to the bottom of the S1 state (Kasha’s rule). We report on femtosecond measurements where this process is temporally resolved we believe for the first time. In addition, we study the subsequent cooling of the energetic molecules.
