Abstract

We report on femtosecond pulse generation from a unidirectional operation ring dye laser in which a mixed solution of DODCI and malachite green (MG) in ethylene glycol is used as the absorber. Pulses as short as 53 fs with pulse repetition and average power both twice as high as that from the bidirectional operation (CPM) are obtained. To the best of our knowledge this is the first detailed experimental study on a unidirectional operation dye ring laser.
