Abstract
A temporally and spatially resolved non-intrusive detection method with high sensitivity and selectivity has long been sought for atomic species whose first electronic resonances fall in the vacuum UV. CARS has been suggested as a suitable tool for this purpose. We report on a micro-computer-controlled CARS apparatus for time-resolved detection of transient species and the results of its use to detect atomic chlorine.
