Abstract

The laser-initiated polymerization of vinyl monomer has been of great interest in recent years.1-3 Fu et al. developed a novel method using laser-initiated photocatalysis that had several obvious advantages.2 We present here another type of laser-initiated polymerization of aryne monomer. We focus on the effect of laser operating parameters on polyphenylacetylene yield and character and discuss the mechanism.
