Abstract

Chirped puise amplification1 using a combination of fiber and grating pair is used in the P102-Nd:YAG laser system to produce 1-ps pulses with ultrahigh peak power (50 TW). The frequency chirped pulse is amplified in a single beam line delivering up to 100 J in 1-ns 1.0642-μm pulses. This beam line comprises rod amplifiers up to 90-mm aperture. A double pass grating compressor is used to compress the pulse to nearly picosecond duration.
