Abstract
Recently, we have reported (1) that, when the laser bandwidth exceeds the absorption spectral width, the temporal behavior of the echo is distorted significantly, and this phenomenon can be explained in terms of the optical density effect (OD effect) which is closely related to the change of the laser spectrum or equivalently the change of the correlation function as the excitation pulse propagates through the sample.
