Abstract
Pattern recognition with Fourier spectrum has been studied by J.D. Armitage and A.W. Lohmann(1), but there are several groups of the characters such as ("O", "Q", "C"; "o", "c", "e"; and "8", "3", "6", "9" etc) having very similar Fourier spectra and hence could not be able to differentiate them by this technique. But this hindrance can be easily solved by using a Sine Fourier spectra as we will suggest here. Characters of "c", "o" and "e” are taken as for examples for they possess highly-alike features and hence very similar Fourier spectra. Figure 1 shows these characters are taken as objects and their corresponding Fourier spectra and Cosine and Sine Fourier spectra respectively. It is obvious that the Fourier spectra are very alike as well as the Cosine spectra but their Sine Fourier spectra are quite different and will facilitate in pattern recognitions.
