Abstract

It seems likely that a thorough study of mixed oxide could provide valuable information on the choice of solid state laser materials.1-3 The mixed oxide crystals of Sro. 6Al2O3 doped with triply ionized neodymuim (Nd3+) emits an intense luminescence, and is of considerable interest in quantum electronics. In addition to this, crystals of Sro. 6Al2O3 are transparent between. 2μm – 5μm, and have intrinsic hardness and high optical quality necessary for the selection of solid state laser materials. The purpose of this work was the measurment of the stimulated emission cross section for various transitions which determine the suitability of this material as a laser host lattice.
