Polarization-dependent optical absorption and gain spectra of (Cd,Mn)Te and (Zn,Mn)Se multiple-quantum-well structures

Abstract

Strained-layer multiple quantum wells (MQWs) grown in the (Cd,Mn)Te and (Zn,Mn)Se material systems offer an interesting contrast in the effects of strain on the valence band. In (Cd,Mn)Te the lattice constant decreases with the increasing mole fraction of Mn, thus subjecting the well regions to an expansive uniaxial strain in the growth direction.
