Abstract

We studied the case of a distributed feedback (DFB) medium in a partially filled ring cavity.1,2 A symmetric ring cavity of length Lc with total amplitude reflection coefficient ρ surrounding the active DFB region of length L (Fig. 1) is assumed. Only the region with the grating is considered active. The gain and index of the medium have a sinusoidal variation at the Bragg wavelength. We solved the distributed feedback coupled-mode equations3 with ring boundary conditions.
