Abstract
Since H2 is the simplest neutral molecule, accurate measurements of its dissociation energy and ionization limit play an extremely important role in testing molecular theory. Unfortunately these energies lie in the VUV region. As a result the precision of these measurements has been limited to an order of magnitude less than that of optical spectroscopy between the Rydberg states.
