Abstract

A phase conjugate laser [a laser cavity with a phase conjugate mirror (PCM)] can be viewed as a nonlinear system with a delayed feedback. It is known that such systems can lead to optical instabilities and chaos. Such behavior has already been observed using a photorefractive material (BaTiO3) as the nonlinear medium.1
