Abstract
We find that resonant Raman scattering is an excellent optical probe of quasi-2-D excitan behavior in quantum wells. In the resonant Raman process, the incident photon is scattered inelastically by the optical vibrations of the crystal. For each excitan transition, two separate resonances are possible: the incoming resonance with the incident photon and the outgoing resonance with the scattered photon.
