Abstract

Recently, practical designs of Gaussian reflectivity mirrors have been published.1,2 Such mirrors have been used to produce smooth Gaussian modes in large section lasers.1,3 As the purpose of those experiments was to verify the theoretical predictions, the resonator parameters were chosen to produce Gaussian modes significantly smaller than the gain section to avoid diffraction effects.
