Abstract

Diffusion of adsorbates on surfaces plays a central role in surface chemistry. Surface diffusion experiments can reveal Information about the nature of the surface potential parallel to the substrate surface. This Information is generally un-attainable from other experiments. Despite their importance, only a few surface diffusion studies have been performed for gas adsorbates on single- crystal surfaces due to experimental difficulties.
