Optically induced concentration gratings in a microemuision close to a critical point

Abstract

We show that electrostriction1 can be used to induce sizable concentration gratings in a critical mixture. The results demonstrate for the first time that the static and dynamic critical behaviors of a mixture near a consolute point can be quantitatively investigated by means of this nonlinear technique.
