Self-pumped phase conjugation in resonant systems

Abstract

Self-pumped phase conjugation using dye solutions has been reported by Koptev et al.1 and Ivakin et al.2 Their experimental results provide the impetus to develop an understanding of the underlying physical mechanisms and to search for new applicable resonant materials. The practical implication of resonantly enhanced self-pumped phase conjugation is the possibility of replacing current degenerate four-wave mixing phase-conjugate mirrors in signal processing applications with technically simpler elements.
