Thermionic Ring Diode for High-Resolution Spectroscopy of Rydberg States

Abstract

The space-charge-limited thermionic diode has proven to be particularly well suited for the detection of high Rydberg states in a cell geometry. In order to avoid perturbation caused by electrical stray fields the thermionic diode is usually divided in an excitation and a detection chamber by a metal grid to ensure a field-free region below the grid.1
