Abstract
The perturbative expressions for the non- linear susceptibilities of a quantum-mechanical system are well known and form the basis for many spectroscopic techniques that have been developed over the last decade. However, close to a resonance, one has to calculate the susceptibilities in a nonperturbative way. The nonlinear susceptibility giving the energy absorption from a weak probe of a two-level system under the influence of a strong pump beam has been the subject of many theoretical and experimental investigations.1 In particular, such a susceptibility shows the regions of the parametric gain along with dispersion-shaped Rabi resonances.
